Top 10 pay-for-extra things for families at Camp Bestival

 Camp Bestival 2014

 Camp Bestival 2014

Last weekend we went to Camp Bestival as a family, staying the Friday and Saturday nights. This year, as last year, we were given press passes to experience the family festival and report back with our thoughts, as an aside the year before we bought our own family ticket so we've three years of Camp Bestival experience under our belts.

This year, something 'clicked' with Camp Besitval and I and I enjoyed more than previous years. I put this down to finally accepting the festival as a family festival and completely embracing the family aspect and not focusing so much on the musical line up as I have done in the past. We caught Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer, Wild Smiles and Johnny Marr musically but that was about it and to be honest, as in previous years, the music line up didn't particularly tick my boxes - I think my festival heaven would be the acts of Bestival with the family aspect of Camp Bestival - but even taking this into consideration, this years Camp Bestival was my favourite year so far.

Camp Bestival offers some  pre-book and / or pay-extra activities. In the past I've been rather skeptical of  these sorts of additional costs at events but having spoken to some parents who's children managed to get a place in the workshops I've learnt just what good value they are and the benefits they offer children. I'll be sure to get organised enough to book some of the following activities in advance in 2015, one thing I'd like to see made much clearer when booking a family ticket is just how and when it's best to book spaces in these courses, as they are relatively small and fill up fast.

So, in an attempt to make sharing with you the 100 final photos from my Camp Bestival snap haul, here's my 'Top 10 pay-for-extra things for families at Camp Bestival'

7. Haven Falconry http://www.haven-falconry.co.uk. Based on the Isle of Wight, again local-ish to me,  Haven Falconry's ethos is to promote and preserve the art of falconry and birds of prey for further generations.

10. Cotswold Corn Roast Company - There's always such a wide a varied choice of food to buy at Camp Bestival, but one thing that proved just as popular as ice cream with the kids was the buttery roast corn on the cobs - and if you do come across them at a festival I can recommend the garlic salt sprinkles to add a bit of extra nom nom nom to the occasion.
